MEDICAL GASTRO-ENTEROLOGY AND ENDOSCOPY

Endoscopic procedures like upper GI Endoscopy with a GASTROSCOPE to rule out ulcers,cancers,etc., and biopsy of the lesion via the gastroscope is done regularly. Sclerotherapy for Oesophageal varices( which occur in portal hypertension and liver failure) to prevent vomiting of blood is also performed here.

Sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy (Examination of the rectum,sigmoid and large intestine) are done with a COLONOSCOPE to find out the cause of altered bowel habits,chronic diarrhoea,blood in the motion etc. The test is to take a look into the lower Gastro-intestinal tract and make a diagnosis.

INFRA-RED TREATMENT OF PILES

Piles or haemorrhoids are troublesome and can cause bleeding while passing motion. The conventional method of treatment is to perform surgery.However, by using infra-red coagulation,we coagulate the vein feeding the piles.The pile mass shrinks over a period of time.Thus the patient can totally avoid surgery,pain and bleeding. Lipectomy is a procedure where the fatty apron on the abdomen can be removed and the abdomen can be made flat and firm. This procedure can be combined with Incisional Hernia repair,Hysterectomy,Caesarian section etc.,

Liposuction is a procedure where fat from a particular area eg: abdomen,hip,thighs,etc., can be sucked out with a needle. Upto three litres of fat can be removed in one sitting. In terms of weight loss, one can expect to lose about 6-8 Kgs in three months. Stay in hospital is usually for just a day.

ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND AND ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY

Abdomainal ultrasound to find out if there are gall stones,Kidney stones,cysts or tumours, can be done with our ALOKA 630 D Machine.

Obstetric ultrasound can be of immense help by giving details about the position and growth of the foetus etc. Even some abnormalities in the foetus can be deleted by these tests.A report will be provided which the patient may show to the family doctor.

Echocardiography will give details about the functioning of the heart.Details like ‘Ejection fraction’ which gives the physician an idea about how well a patient can withstand the stress of anaesthesia and surgery can be obtained.
